The BOMA Food Bar – Children’s Birthday Party Policies, Guidelines & Terms

Thank you for choosing The BOMA Food Bar at St Ives for your child’s celebration. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, please review the following policies and terms carefully:

1. Bookings & Deposits

  • A table deposit of R 1000 is required to secure your table booking for up to 20 guests.

  • The deposit can be used towards your food and drinks tab.

    • If guests will be paying for themselves, please speak to the organiser to arrange an alternative payment arrangement.

  • Final numbers must be emailed to reservations@stives.co.za at least 7 days prior to the party.

  • All allergies and special requests must also be emailed to reservations@stives.co.za in advance.

  • A refundable damage retainer of R 250 is payable in case of extra cleanup or damages on the day.

2. Food & Drinks

  • Guests are welcome to bring a cake; a cakeage fee of R250 applies. and must be paid ahead of arrival.

  • All food is self-service; there are no waitrons unless food is preordered.

  • Food and drinks are payable in advance at the bar, unless pre-ordered and pre-paid.

  • Minimal décor setup is permitted, but all items must be removed by your team after the party. Confetti or décor that may scatter or blow around the estate is not allowed.

  • Party packs are not permitted, but you may hand these out to guests upon departure.

  • We recommend a selection of milkshakes and fruit juice for the children. For pizza, we suggest 1 pizza for every 2 children, with the option to order more if needed.

  • You can choose to set up a bar tab for guests or pre-order drinks, which we can have on ice for you.

  • Menu selections can be made via our BOMA menu here: BOMA Menu. Once selections are made, we will prepare a quotation based on your choices.

3. Venue

  • If exclusive use of the big lapa is not required and you are happy to be seated at tables near the children’s area, no additional venue hire is necessary.

  • If ‘The Ship’ table (seats up to 15 kids) is required, a R 500 fee is appicable.

  • All children’s birthday parties will be seated in areas that allow for safe and supervised play, while other guests may also be present.

4. Children’s Play Area & Indemnity

  • The children’s play area is intended for children <12 years of age and <50 kg.

  • The BOMA Food Bar provides a children’s play area for entertainment during birthday parties.

  • Use of the play area is entirely at your own risk.

  • Parents/guardians are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times.

  • The BOMA Food Bar, St Ives Estate, and its staff accept no liability for:

    • Injury or death

    • Missing personal items or belongings

    • Damage to personal property

  • By attending the birthday party, parents/guardians agree to indemnify and hold harmless the BOMA Food Bar and St Ives Estate from any claims arising from use of the play area.

5. Reservation Timing

  • Tables will only be held for 15 minutes past your booked reservation time.

  • If you anticipate being late, please call ahead so we can do our best to accommodate you.

6. Payment & Confirmation

  • Full payment for food, drinks, and cakeage must be made prior to or on arrival, unless pre-ordered and pre-paid.

  • The BOMA Food Bar reserves the right to release your booking if payment or confirmation of final numbers is not received on time.

7. General Terms

  • All guests are expected to respect the venue and staff.

  • The BOMA Food Bar is not responsible for personal belongings left on the premises.

  • Management reserves the right to refuse service or cancel bookings if the above terms are not adhered to.

Indemnity & Safety Notice
• Liability: St Ives does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property, or for personal injury.
• Right of Admission: St Ives reserves the right to ask any individual or group to leave the premises if found vandalising, antagonising wildlife, or disrupting the peace of the estate.
• Dam Safety: Children must be supervised at all times near the dam. Swimming is strictly prohibited as there is no lifeguard on duty. St Ives will not be held liable for any injuries or drowning incidents.

By paying your deposit, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these guidelines and terms.
